19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
